How Much Muscle Do You Lose On Ozempic?

It varies, but studies show muscle can make up a quarter to as much as 40 percent of the total weight you lose on Ozempic. On the tirzepatide trial data it was about a quarter. How much you lose depends almost entirely on your protein intake and whether you train.
Put real numbers on it. If you lose 20 kilograms and do nothing to protect your muscle, five kilograms or more of that could be muscle rather than fat. That is a lot of strength to give away.
You bring that number right down with two habits. Eat enough protein, around 1.6 to 2.0 grams per kilogram of your goal weight a day. Train against resistance two to four times a week. Do both and most of what you lose is fat, which is the whole point.
Judge your progress by your strength, not just the scale. If your training weights hold or climb while your waist shrinks, you are keeping muscle and losing fat.
